About
This test evaluates how well the middle ear is functioning by measuring the movement of the eardrum and the reflexes of the tiny middle ear muscles in response to sound. It is quick, painless, and safe, and does not require active participation from the patient. Immittance testing is especially useful for infants, young children, or individuals who cannot cooperate with standard hearing tests. It helps in detecting fluid in the middle ear, ear infections, stiffness or perforation of the eardrum, and problems with the middle ear bones. This test is also valuable in identifying Eustachian tube dysfunction and abnormal reflex pathways, providing important information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
